Our Purpose is to be reconciled to God and lead others to do the same

The Church of the Nazarene is a Great Commission church (Matthew 28:19-20).

As a global community of faith, currently in 165 world areas, we are commissioned to take the Good News of life in Jesus Christ to people everywhere and to spread the message of scriptural holiness (Christlike living) across the lands. The Church of the Nazarene bonds together individuals who have made Jesus Christ Lord of their lives, sharing in Christian fellowship, and seeking to strengthen each other in faith development through worship, preaching, training, and service to others. We strive to express the compassion of Jesus Christ to all persons along with our personal commitment to Christlike living.

The Church of the Nazarene is a worldwide denomination of local churches organized into districts. Our mission is to make Christlike disciples in the nations. We currently have local churches and organized districts in 156 countries and serve about 3 million people. In Canada, we have 5 districts.

We Believe

That the grace of God revealed in Jesus of Nazareth is broad enough to include all people and all groups of people.

We Are A Holiness Church

That acts on the belief that the relationship people have with God through Jesus enables them to have personal fellowship with God and to be effectively involved in His purposes for all humanity.

Our District

Canada West District is the extension of the Global network of Nazarene churches and ministries that covers the three prairie provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. It consists of 35 congregations, 6 Compassionate Ministry Centers, 2 campgrounds and 8 satellite ministries. Our mission is to share the love of God in whatever community we find ourselves. Our expressions of faith come in many ways with a wide variety of worship - some are liturgical and based on the ancient traditions of the church; others are contemporary and geared to a present generation of believers; still others are in different languages and customs (Spanish, Sudanese, Congolese, Hindi, Tagalog). We are found in small rural towns and large cities - but we believe you will find a warm and receptive welcome wherever you go.

Caring for the needs of those who live on the thin edge of hope is also an expression of Christlike faith and to help us with that we have 6 Compassionate Ministries who provide a wide range of services in response to the needs of others - including food programs, clothing banks, counselling services, transitional housing programs.
