Pastor Rose Brower-Young
District Superintendent
Rose attended Canadian Nazarene College 1985-1990 and graduated with a Bachelor of Theology degree. She also attended the University of Manitoba, studying English and religion. She is at the present time finishing her work with CREST and will have earned a Masters in Christian Leadership, all she has left is to write her thesis. In 1988 Rose married Kelly Brower. They were involved in ministry at Fort Garry Nazarene and did summer ministry together in the Maritime churches. Their first pastorate was in Olds Alberta. It was during this time God gave Kelly the vision for Kidztown, an outreach ministry to community children and their families. After leaving Olds, they were welcomed on staff at Medicine Hat Glenview Nazarene church to work alongside Rev. John Moore and Rev. Jason Horne. After leaving Medicine Hat they went to Calgary where they began to minister with the people of Hope Community Church, a church plant begun through the Phone’s For You campaign. The church grew from 23 to 65 people, but in the end the decision was made to merge the congregation with Calgary New Life Fellowship. They stepped out in faith to go full-time with Kidztown in May 2004 when Kelly suddenly passed away August 3, 2004 from a heart attack. He was only 36 years old. Kelly & Rose had 2 children, Rae-Lee and Brock. It was a few years later in 2008 that their family grew by one when Rose married Brad Young on November 22. Rose also worked at the District Office with Rose Graham for 1½ years. A job which she says all pastors should have to do for a while. In December 2010 Dr. Larry Dahl asked Rose if she would be willing to do some pastoral interim work at Calgary East Church of the Nazarene, where she continued to minister until she was voted on as District Superintendent. Rose has held positions on the District’s Board of Ministry, District Advisory Board, District SDMI Board, District NMI Board, District Assembly Finance Committee, and the Camp Harmattan Board. She was also on the CNC Board of Governors when they merged with CBC to become what is presently Ambrose University. This year Rose and Brad will celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary. Brad’s love is sound and lighting, and he has been a technician for many years. Rae-Lee, is 23 years old. She graduated from Simon Fraser University in 2017 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, majoring in dance. Rae-Lee also earned a Teacher Training diploma from the National Ballet School of Canada and is currently teaching ballet full time. Brock, is 22 years old. He has just completed his second year of studying Computer Science at the University of Lethbridge.
