Our Purpose is to be reconciled to God and lead others to do the same

The Church of the Nazarene is a Great Commission church (Matthew 28:19-20), called to make Christlike disciples in the nations. We are a global community of faith in more than 165 world areas, serving nearly three million members and participants.

Our mission is to share the Good News of new life in Jesus Christ and to proclaim the message of scriptural holiness—living transformed, Christlike lives empowered by grace. Together, we seek to be the hands and feet of Jesus in our communities and around the world.

As people journey with God, we describe this lifelong process as the Journey of Grace—experiencing God’s prevenient grace that draws us to Him, His saving grace that redeems us, and His sanctifying grace that transforms us. Through praise and prayer, fellowship, learning, and compassionate service, we grow together in faith, becoming more like Christ for the sake of others.

he Church of the Nazarene in Canada is part of the USA/Canada Region and is organized into five districts that serve communities from coast to coast. Together, we share one mission: to make Christlike disciples in Canada and throughout the world. You can find out more here.

We believe the grace of God revealed in Jesus Christ is wide enough to embrace all people and every group. His love reaches across boundaries, cultures, generations, and neurotypes and abilities —inviting everyone into a life made new by His transforming presence.

As churches part of the Wesleyan-Holiness tradition, we believe that a personal relationship with God through Jesus empowers us to live in fellowship with Him and to join in His mission for the world. Holiness is not separation from others but participation with God in loving, serving, and restoring all that He loves.

Our District

The Canada West District is part of a global family of Nazarene churches and ministries, serving the prairie provinces of Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. Our district includes 38 congregations, six Compassionate Ministry Centers, two campgrounds, one university, two church-type ministries, and six parent-affiliated congregations (PACs).

Our mission is simple: to share the love of God in every community where we live and serve. Across the prairies, our churches express faith in diverse and beautiful ways—some through the rhythms of ancient liturgy, others through contemporary worship, and still others through the languages and customs of many nations, including Spanish, Sudanese, Congolese, Hindi, and Tagalog. Whether in a rural town or a bustling city, you’ll find a warm welcome and a shared desire to know and follow Jesus.

We also believe faith comes alive in compassion. The Compassionate Ministry Centers across the district embody Christ’s love by caring for those who live on the thin edge of hope. Through food programs, clothing banks, counselling services, and transitional housing, they offer practical help and spiritual encouragement—reminding every person that they are seen, valued, and deeply loved by God.
